Terms of Service

This is a public information website. You can read it without giving us anything, and these terms are correspondingly short. They set out what the site is, the limits of the product information on it, and the small number of things we ask you not to do.

1. Who these terms are between

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) apply between you and Maize Drones (“Maize Drones”, “we”, “us”, “our”), an agricultural technology team based in British Columbia, Canada, and they govern your use of the website at maizedrones.com (the “Site”).

By using the Site you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Site. Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.

2. What the Site is, and what it is not

The Site is a set of static information pages describing Maize Drones and the autonomous crop-scanning drone we are building. It exists to explain the product and to point you to our public writing.

The Site does not sell anything. There is no checkout, no payment, no order, no subscription fee, no account, and no sign-up form. It does not provide any software service, and it does not connect to any drone, hub, or customer data.

Our drone hardware and our mobile and desktop applications are separate from the Site and are not governed by these Terms. When they become available they will carry their own terms.

3. Product information, pricing, and forward-looking statements

This is the most important section on the page, so we have put it near the top rather than burying it.

Maize Drones is a company in development. Descriptions on the Site of what the drone does, what it costs, how long a scan takes, how accurate the analysis is, and when it will be available describe our current intentions and expectations for a product that is still being built. They are marketing information, not a contract, not a warranty, and not an offer to sell. Any price shown, including the $3,500 figure, is an indication of intended pricing and may change.

Comparisons with other products reflect publicly available information at the time of writing and our own understanding of the market. Specifications and prices of third-party products change, and you should verify them yourself before relying on any comparison.

Statements about the future are inherently uncertain. Development timelines slip, specifications change, features are cut, and some products never ship at all. Please do not make a purchasing, planting, financial, or business decision on the assumption that anything described here will become available, on time or at all.

4. No agronomic or professional advice

Nothing on the Site is agronomic, veterinary, engineering, aviation, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Content about crop health, irrigation, fertiliser application, disease, or drone operation is general and illustrative. Farming decisions depend on your own land, crop, climate, and circumstances, and you should rely on a qualified agronomist or other professional rather than on this website. You are also responsible for complying with the aviation and drone regulations that apply where you operate, including Transport Canada’s rules for remotely piloted aircraft.

5. How you may use the Site

You may read the Site, link to it, and share it. We ask that you do not:

• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site or to the systems that serve it, or probe or test their security without our permission;
• interfere with the Site’s availability, for example by overwhelming it with automated requests;
• scrape or harvest the Site at a scale or in a manner that disrupts it, or contrary to our robots.txt;
• copy our text, images, or branding and present them as your own, or use them in a way that suggests we endorse you;
• use the Site for anything unlawful.

Search engines and AI assistants are welcome to crawl and index the Site; our robots.txt sets that out explicitly.

6. Intellectual property

The content of the Site, including its text, images, illustrations, layout, and the Maize Drones name and logo, belongs to us or to our licensors and is protected by copyright and trade-mark law. These Terms do not transfer any of it to you.

You may quote short extracts with attribution and a link, as ordinary fair dealing allows, for example in journalism, research, or commentary.

The Site has no upload, posting, or comment feature, so you do not submit content to us through it and you grant us no licence by using it. If you send us feedback by email, you agree we may use that feedback to improve our products without owing you anything for it, and we will not publish your name without asking.

7. Links to other services

The Site links to our Substack publication and our LinkedIn page, and may link to other third-party sites. We do not control those services, we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

8. The Site is provided as it is

We put real effort into keeping the Site accurate and available, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that the information on it is complete or current.

Nothing in this section limits any warranty or right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law, including under the British Columbia Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Maize Drones and the people who work on it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for lost profits, lost crops, lost yield, lost revenue, or lost data, arising out of your use of the Site or your reliance on information published on it. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to CAD $100.

These limits do not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or to any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including non-waivable consumer rights in British Columbia.

10. Availability and changes to the Site

We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of the Site at any time without notice. Since the Site requires no account, there is nothing for us to suspend or terminate on your side, and nothing for you to cancel.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

If something goes wrong, please email hello@maizedrones.com first so we can try to sort it out directly. Subject to any non-waivable right you have as a consumer to bring or defend proceedings where you live, you and Maize Drones submit to the courts of British Columbia for any dispute relating to these Terms or the Site.

We do not impose mandatory arbitration or any class-action waiver on consumers, and nothing here limits your rights under the British Columbia Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Site changes. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Because the Site has no accounts and no mailing list, we cannot notify you individually, so that date is the reliable signal. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

13. General

• Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the provision is narrowed only as far as necessary.
• No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision immediately, we do not give up the right to enforce it later.
• Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Site, and replace any earlier version.
• Language. These Terms are drawn up in English. Headings are for convenience only.
